The oldest pilgrimage place in Slovakia Skalka is located on the old road from Trenčín to Nesešová. It consists of two buildings: Small and Great Skalky.

The Benedictine Abbey founded Skalke in the year. 1224 Nazi bishop James I. at the site of the scapegoats of St. John the Baptist. Andreja-Svorada and Benedict. The monastery attributed great importance and became the spiritual center of Považia. The development of the monastery interrupted the invasion of the Tatars. For hundreds of years, the lifeless and fearful life of the rebellious people. They reported the word of God, they carried out missions. In 1401, however, the rich Skalka did not defeat the Hussite Wars. After the conquest of the Trenčín Castle in the year 2000, 1528 Gen. Katzianer also commented on the Benedictines at Skalke. In the period from 1528 to 1645 the monastery was delighted by several masters. The monastery with adjoining buildings was restored in the 15th century. 1645 Jesuits, who settled Skalka and exhibited Calvary. Gradually reconstructed both Malá and VeľkáSkalka. After the revival of the Jesuits, the spiritual bloom and the most famous of Skalky ended. The monastery started to leave.

Veľká Škalka - church, monastery and cave. The chapel was built in r. 1224 vgotickom style. In r. 1664 the whole building was renovated and in r. 1717 restored the Chapel of Sts. Andreja-Svorada and Beňadika with a new tower.

Little Skalka is a two-story church built in Romanesque style. They met him to St. Benedik. In r. 1520 gave Juraj Turzo a place to build a chapel in his place. In 1745, the Jesuits expanded into their present form and brought two towers to it.
